In July 2015 I submitted an extract from my unfolding autobiography to a contest run by Write-ability at Writers Victoria. This annual contest provides mentoships to five writers with a disability. There were about fifty applicants a I won a mentorship with the Melbourne writer Mathew Hooper. Any success, however humble, is always welcome encouragement.
In the end, this didn’t really work out for me. Matthew was very professional and wanted to help but I didn’t feel a good rapport and decided not to continue. This might be seem perverse, but I have to follow my instincts in this regard.
