We went up the London Shard one afternoon in late summer. It was fairly expensive but a reasonable experience. The viewing platform at the top is pretty high with good views of London Bridge, the Gherkin and the south. It is interesting architecturally to be so high up in a skyscraper status to such a narrow point. I enjoy the London eye a lot more as far as views go. Access was mildly convoluted but no problem. There is the usual tourist shop at the bottom with a few interesting mementos and trinkets. Actually, on looking at my pictures again, the view is better than I realised. I must be jaded from too much travel.
