La Rinascente is an upmarket department store in Florence, in Piazza della Republica. The entrance from the north side is flat except for a tiny step. If you get the lift up to the top floor there is another small lift hidden away which takes you up to the rooftop café. The lift is a bit rough but it usually works. Careful of the stairs on top. This is one of our favourite café’s of an evening, with the sun setting in the West and Giotto’s tower so close you can almost touch it. Have a spritz. Did you know the spritz originated in Venice?
