It is a lovely, mild, sunny day in Toscano. We have moved from our inadvertently chosen hellhole in Grosseto to a heavenly mountain haven called Sensano, between San Gimignano and Volterra. As I write this I am basking in gentle sunlight beneath twin medieval towers in San Gimignano. Jill is climbing the stairs of one of the towers. It’s quite a nice hill-town but better to look at than to visit. We prefer Volterra.
We drove our car right up into town and parked for free in the town square under the towers, thanks to our van’s wheelie status. There is a main drag with many touristy shops. There are a few nice diversions. As usual, I recommend you walk along the back streets.
