Transfers can be tough if you are a person with quadriplegia (tetraplegia). It’s especially hard if you are tall. Those aisle chairs are ridiculously tiny. I understand that they must be narrow, but they are so small the attendants have to carry my legs along the aisle. Qantas have a an Aussie designed and built gadget called an eagle hoist which I like.
(That’s not me in the photo).

I drive my power chair right into the plane, and using then this portable hoist I rise from my chair, roll down the aisle and descend into my seat. Some people find hoists ignoble, but I reckon it’s a pretty simple system and saves a lot of hassle including flight attendants’ backs.
